Take a break from housing development
I believe we should take a break from development proposals until we understand the impacts on all of our resources of what has already been approved.
The jobs/housing imbalance is a big problem and I think it will be a very challenging for us as a region to build our way out. Attempting to do so in the near term could significantly impact quality of life for us in Foster City.
Foster City has done its part to plan for and create affordable housing. We are one of only two cities in the county that has met our Regional Needs Housing Allocation (RHNA) through 2023.
I believe the longer-term solution is to work toward an east-west mass transit solution to relieve our housing imbalance, reduce congestion on 92, and reduce pass-through traffic in our city.
